Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Kooko handles information when you use the app. Kooko helps you turn fridge photos, saved ingredients, and meal preferences into recipe suggestions.

Kooko is developed and provided by Caleero. In this Policy, "we," "us," and "our" refer to Caleero, and "you" refers to the person using Kooko.

We aim to collect only what is needed to make the app work.

You do not need to create a personal account to use the current version of Kooko.

Depending on how you use the app, Kooko may collect or process:

• anonymous identifiers used to keep the app working;
• fridge photos you choose to scan from the camera or photo library;
• detected food and drink items from a scan;
• saved fridge items;
• generated meal titles, ingredients, cooking steps, and recent meal history;
• meal preferences, such as cooking comfort, servings, dietary needs, hard avoids, food style, meal goal, cooking time, spice level, and measurement style;
• usage events needed to operate the scan and meal-generation flow, such as whether a scan or meal generation succeeded or failed;
• subscription, paywall, and entitlement information where paid access is offered.

We do not currently collect your name, email address, phone number, precise location, contacts, health data, body data, calories, macros, advertising ID, or push notification token through the app.

We do not use ads or third-party ad tracking in the current version.

When you take or choose a fridge photo, Kooko compresses the image and sends it for processing so visible food and drink items can be detected.

In the current version:

• we do not intentionally store fridge photos in Kooko's database;
• we store scan records and detected item text, not the original image file;
• you can retake photos or exit the scan flow before finishing;
• images are not used to train our own AI models.

You should avoid uploading images that contain people, faces, private documents, payment cards, IDs, medical information, or anything unrelated to food.

If the image does not appear to contain food or drinks, Kooko may reject it or return an error.

Kooko uses AI to detect visible food items and generate recipes.

Your image, detected items, selected items, preferences, locale information, and related instructions may be sent to AI services so Kooko can identify visible items and generate a meal.

AI results may be wrong, incomplete, unsafe, or unsuitable. Kooko may miss items, misidentify products, misunderstand quantities, or generate cooking instructions that require your own judgment.

Always review important information before cooking or eating anything.

We use information to:

• create and maintain an anonymous app session;
• detect items from fridge photos;
• let you review, edit, and save ingredient lists;
• generate recipes based on ingredients, preferences, and locale;
• save recent meals and saved fridge items;
• manage paywalls, subscriptions, and paid access where available;
• provide support;
• debug errors, protect the service, and keep the app working properly.

We do not sell your data.

We do not use your data for advertising.

Kooko may let you enter dietary restrictions, allergies, hard avoids, or other food preferences. This helps the AI generate recipes that better match your input.

Kooko is not a medical, nutrition, allergy, or food safety service. The app does not guarantee that:

• detected ingredients are correct;
• a recipe is safe for allergies;
• food is not expired;
• food is safe to eat;
• cooking instructions are complete or perfect;
• a recipe is suitable for a medical condition.

You are responsible for checking ingredients, labels, allergens, expiration dates, storage conditions, cooking temperatures, and food safety before preparing or eating anything.

Kooko offers paid access and may use subscriptions, trials, or paywalls.

Payments, renewals, cancellations, and refunds for iOS purchases are handled through Apple In-App Purchases and the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment card details.

We may process anonymous subscription, paywall, and entitlement information to know whether you have access to paid features.

We use third-party services to operate Kooko, including services for:

• AI image analysis and recipe generation;
• anonymous authentication, backend functions, and app data storage;
• paywalls, subscriptions, and entitlement-related flows;
• Apple App Store and Apple In-App Purchases for iOS payments;
• privacy-friendly website analytics on Kooko web pages.

These services may process information as needed to provide their services.

We keep app data only for as long as needed to provide and maintain the service.

In the current app, you can use Clear All Data in Settings to reset local preferences, saved fridge items, recent meals, onboarding state, and the anonymous app identity stored on your device.

Clear All Data may not immediately delete all server-side records that were already created for the previous anonymous identity. To request deletion of server-side data, contact us at kooko@caleero.com.

Some data may remain temporarily in backups, logs, or infrastructure systems after deletion. We aim to remove deleted data from active systems, but full backup deletion may take longer.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the use of your data.

Because the current version uses anonymous sessions, we may need information from you to identify the app data linked to your device or anonymous profile.

Kooko is not intended for children who are too young to use digital services without parental consent under applicable law.

If we learn that we collected information from a child in a way that violates the law, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy when Kooko changes, such as if we add accounts, email sign-in, new analytics, new AI providers, syncing, or nutrition features.

The latest version will be shown in the app or on our website.
