Privacy Policy
Effective date: April 6, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Minnen handles information when you use the app.
1. Overview
Minnen is designed with a privacy-first approach. The app's core functionality works locally on your device using the Instagram data export you choose to import. We do not operate Instagram accounts, and we do not access your Instagram account directly.
2. Information You Import Into the App
Minnen allows you to import your Instagram data export, such as a .zip file, in order to analyze followers, following changes, and related insights. This imported data may include things like:
- your Instagram username
- followers and following lists
- profile information contained in the export
- interaction data included in the export, such as message, story-like, comment-like, or similar archive data
- comparison results generated from that data inside the app
Unless otherwise stated in this Policy, this imported data is processed locally on your device and is not uploaded to our servers.
3. Local Storage
Imported data and generated results are stored locally on your device so the app can function across sessions. This may include:
- account metadata such as username and display name
- profile photo saved locally on your device
- scan history and comparison results
- app settings and preferences
- cached analysis results
You can remove this information at any time from within the app by deleting your data or deleting the app from your device.
4. Optional Profile Photo Sharing
Minnen includes an optional feature that lets you share your own profile photo so it can appear to other users inside certain social or circle-based views in the app. If you turn this feature on:
- your profile photo may be uploaded to Apple CloudKit public database
- your Instagram username may be used as the record identifier for that photo
- other Minnen users may be able to retrieve and display that shared profile photo inside the app
This feature is optional and controlled by you. If you turn this feature off, Minnen will attempt to delete the shared profile photo record associated with your active username from CloudKit. This feature does not change how your imported Instagram archive is handled. Your imported archive data remains local to your device unless you separately choose to enable profile photo sharing.
5. Notifications
Minnen may request permission to send local notifications, for example to remind you to rescan or return to the app later. These notifications are scheduled locally on your device. They are not used for advertising and do not require us to store your imported Instagram archive on external servers. You can manage notification permissions at any time in your device settings.
6. Analytics
Minnen uses TelemetryDeck to collect limited, privacy-focused analytics in order to improve app quality and user experience. This analytics data may include:
- app launches and sessions
- onboarding and feature interaction events
- import success or failure events
- scan completion and general usage events
- basic technical or device context that does not directly identify you
We do not use this analytics data for advertising, cross-app tracking, or profiling. We do not intentionally send your imported Instagram archive contents, message contents, follower lists, or similar imported personal content as analytics events.
7. Third-Party Services
Minnen may rely on third-party services that process limited data in order to provide specific features. These currently include:
- Apple CloudKit, for the optional shared profile photo feature
- TelemetryDeck, for privacy-friendly product analytics
Those providers process data under their own terms and privacy policies.
8. Data About Other People
Your Instagram export may contain information relating to other people, such as usernames, display names, messages, or interaction history. Minnen processes that information in order to generate the features you request inside the app. Except for optional profile photo sharing described above, we do not intentionally upload that imported archive data to external servers. You are responsible for how you use any information visible through the app.
9. Legal Bases for EEA/UK Users
If you are located in the EEA or UK, we generally rely on the following legal bases:
- your consent or your request to process imported data locally in order to use the app
- legitimate interests for limited privacy-friendly analytics used to improve reliability, usability, and performance
- your consent or affirmative choice for optional features such as profile photo sharing or notifications, where required
10. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding personal data, including rights to access, delete, or object to certain processing. Because most Minnen data is stored locally on your device, many requests can be handled by deleting your in-app data or disabling optional features. If you have a question about data we or our service providers may process in connection with Minnen, contact us using the email below.
11. Children's Privacy
Minnen is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version at this page and update the effective date above.
